VASI KLINKER

Vasi Klinker studied violin at the Mozarteum, Salzburg, Austria in 1980, studying with Dr.Zehetmair, Prof.Bruno Steinschaden and the assistant to Sandor Vegh.  She also took some classes in Baroque music with world re-known Nicklaus Harnoncourt.  While studying in Salzburg, Vasi had the opportunity to travel and play in various European orchestras like in Trieste and Venice, Italy for example. After completing her studies in Salzburg in 1985, she returned to Malaysia where she helped start the Kuala Lumpur Symphony and the Baroque Choristers while she opened her violin studio.  After 7 years of teaching and playing there, she left for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to join her husband and began her new violin studio serving the expat community and the children at the International School in Riyadh.

When her husband’s contract ended, they returned to California and Vasi set up her studio here in Lodi.  She also started taking teacher training courses in the Suzuki Method of Violin teaching over the years and her studio grew as she adapted her studio to teaching both traditional and the Suzuki Method.  Following Dr.Suzuki’s Method of Violin teaching, her private studio consisted of a private lesson and a weekly group class where students and their families came together every week to make music and build relationships.  These relationships have lasted a lifetime as the students grew older, graduated college and married.  Even to this day her students get together to make music in each other’s homes when time and distance permits.

Her students have performed in many outdoor settings like the St.Anne’s and St.Christopher’s Harvest Festival among other outdoor performances.  The last public performance her students participated in, was at Lodi Stadium for the opening of one of the Star War movies in 2017.

When B Sharp School of Music first opened in 2015, she at once joined as a teacher and helped it grow.  Now as Sayla Music Academy, Vasi continues to bring her teaching skills to all the students she teaches and she wholly supports this great school in our community.

In her free time, Vasi volunteers her time, playing with Valley Community Orchestra helping young people get into orchestral playing.
